Application Procedures

You have decided to complete your membership application manually on the paper version of the application form.

This procedure is strongly recommended in case you are not in the possession of all needed information for the successful completion of the on-line application. However, the time required until final approval of your membership may last longer. The manual application form can be downloaded below or will be provided by the Administrative Secretariat in Switzerland upon request (fax: +41 61 811 47 75 or e-mail surgery@iss-sic.ch)

Steps of the manual application procedure ·

  • Please fill in the form

  • Have it signed by your two Sponsors who must be active ISS/SIC members from your country (sponsors from other countries are acceptable only for countries if no members)

  • Send it together with your short curriculum vitae and a list of your publications to the National Delegate of your country for approval. If there is no National Delegate listed on the on-line membership file, you may send it directly to the Administrative Secretariat in Pratteln, to

  • After approval by the National Chapter your form will be forwarded to the ISS/SIC Administrative Secretariat

  • You will be informed about receipt of your application at the Administrative Secretariat

  • The ISS/SIC Executive Committee will decide about acceptance at its regular meetings

  • The Administrative Secretariat will inform you about the decision and will take the necessary steps to activate your membership. Your membership starts with the date of acceptance by the Executive Committee

  • You will be welcomed as a new member and provided with your membership diploma and invoice for the annual dues of the initiation year

  • Springer Verlag New York will be advised to start providing you with World Journal of Surgey and with your personal code for the free on-line access to other surgical journals published by Springer Verlag

Please take into consideration that the manual procedure takes abut 2 to 3 months until final acceptance can be given.

US Applicants should note that all applications will have to be discussed and approved by the US Chapter membership board at its regular meetings which might cause some delay.

Should you apply also for membership in either one of the four Integrated Societies your request for additional membership will be processed separately and independently from the ISS/SIC application by the concerned society.

All four Integrated Societies are charging an extra Chapter Assessment of some US$/€ 20 to 40.- which will be collected together with the regular ISS/SIC annual dues.

The acceptance of your regular ISS/SIC membership does not grant for membership in the integrated societies. Confirmation of membership in one of the four Integrated Societies will come from the respective office directly.
